Sometimes things can get really crazy. Police think that they have the answer to the unexplained death of a seventy year old man who died in March of this year (2008) from head injuries. The man's injuries were so serious that he had become disoriented and couldn't explain what had happened to him. It seems that the murderer may have been a giraffe. It turns out that the guy had gone to a nature preserve to see the animals and for some reason one of the giraffes attacked and either stomped his head or head butted him. The man lived in South Africa and liked to walk through the preserve and had told his wife, that a few months before he had been chased by a hostile giraffe.

A fire in Kashmir destroyed 79 homes and 66 other buildings in a village. Authorities are at a loss to figure out how or where the fire started. They claim that the fire cause is very mysterious.

Dark Matter And Galaxies

Some scientists think that they have discovered a dark flow that may be pulling galaxies toward some point outside of the observable universe. It is not clear to me if they are referring to other dimensions or just the fact that they are being pulled farther than we can currently see? A computer model of our sun is confusing everyone. It doesn't act as expected. If the model is right than we are completely wrong on what we think is going on inside the sun.

There is a cave in the Mexican desert where scientists have found the world's biggest crystals. Something happened there about a half million years ago that caused these giants. The cave is a dangerous place. The temperature there is about 113 degrees F and the crystals are so sharp on their edge that they could easily slice up flesh if someone was not careful.

An Illinois couple living in a 150 year old house decided to tear up the porch. As they started pulling up the wood, they noticed that there was a bone buried there. The bone was looked at by the teachers at the local high school and their opinion was that the bone was human. A state investigator who was an anthropologist inspected the bone but determined that it wasn't human, but no one was able to figure out what the bone was from and today it still remains a mystery.

The Brain

Scientists who have been studying the neurons in our brains were never able to answer the question of why they seem to fire in a random pattern as we think. Well they may have found the answer. The answer is that they may supply a noisy signal that enhances the brain's ability to process thoughts. One said that this might seem crazy since engineers are always fighting to reduce noise in things.

Israel has constructed two huge towers that resemble antennas, that are over 1,300 feet high. The towers were built next to the Dimona nuclear weapons facility, according to an observer. It is not known what purpose the towers serve, but if they are defensive, they are the largest towers ever built for this purpose. The current belief is that the towers are part of some sort of sensor system. Americans know everything that is flying over the region because we are manning special radar stations for the Israelis This makes some Israelis very unhappy. Are there objects above Israel that some would rather not have us know about?

Some people believe that in the late 1920s two alien space signals tried to make contact with us. One was over Eindhoven Holland and the other occurred over the South China Sea. The first was in 1928 and exhibited echoes that were rapid for 3 seconds every 30 seconds. In the 1970s a Scottish scientist, Duncan Lunan plotted the echoes and was able to trace them back to the constellation Bootis 15,000 years in the past. Were we contacted by aliens and just didn't realize it?

Phobos

New data is being released about the moons of Mars from the European Space Agency and it is very surprising. It is beginning to look like Phobos is more like a pile of rubble than a moon. The moon seems not to be solid. Russia plans to send up a mission next year to bring back some dust from Phobos and examine it to determine if indeed Phobos is solid or not.

Years ago NASA hurled a 815 pound copper projectile at comet 9P/Tempel 1 and they are still surprised at the results and unable to figure them out. When the comet was hit, a huge cloud was formed that obscured the comet's core from view until after the spacecraft that launched the projectile, had passed. So we are left with a mission that costs millions of dollars to organize and with results that no one can figure out.

Some think that it it actually possible for living creatures to move from world to world without dying and now they are pointing to a creature commonly known as the water bear. Scientifically they are known as tardigrades and have now been shown to be able to survive in space. Amazingly they can survive the radiation and lack of air and cold. Knowing this lends credence to the theory of Panspermia which states that some organisms could migrate from one planet to another. They are able to go into suspended animation when low on water.
