Projects Pluto, Pounce and Plato

Project Pluto, it sounds like something Disney would use as a title for one of its movies. Unlike Disney however, this was not a entertaining movie with a cute dog like character, but a deadly missile development program. In the early days of missiles after World War II, the U.S. was looking to get the most out of its cruise missile force. In case you don't know, a cruise missile is something like a small jet powered plane, except it has no pilot and contains an explosive payload that can usually be either conventional or nuclear. The idea was to make a cruise missile with a ramjet engine that was very versatile. As with everything else in those days, atomic energy was thought to be the answer, but how could atomic energy be applied to the engines of these missiles to make them more efficient?

Since this idea came about in 1957, the idea of applying atomic energy to the engines of cruise missiles was even harder to visualize, because there were no metals that would be able to take the heat at that time. Before we get into this, I would like to explain how a ramjet engine works. It has no moving parts. Some other propulsion system has to first get the vehicle up to speed. At this point, enough air is rammed through the engine and then fuel is pumped into that air and ignited. The result is that the heated air is shot out the back of the ramjet, which is essentially just a tube and this propels the vehicle forward. What was being proposed was the elimination of the fuel. The way that this was visualized was that a small nuclear reactor would have to be constructed, along with a tube that could withstand over 2.500 degrees Fahrenheit The propulsion would come from hot air being injected into the ramjet from the reactor that would be so hot that it would expand at once and go out the jet, pushing the vehicle forward at great speed.

As I said before, there was no material that could hold up under the heat that was expected and the pressures would be much higher than in a normal ramjet. The powers that be decided that the only course of action would be to use ceramics in the critical parts of the reactor and engine. Things continued for years before the first test and when this test came, it only lasts for about 30 seconds. This first test took place in 1961, but it was only the engine that was being tested. It had been tested outside of the missile. A second test took place in 1964 and right after that the project was canceled. It does make one wonder. There are projects that go black, which means that they are funded secretly and if they existed in public view before that, we are told that they are canceled. Was Project Redlight one of these?

Because the ramjet had a nuclear reactor, it was felt that it could cruise in the sky for months waiting to be told what target to attack. The reactor would not be put online until the missile was shot high enough and far enough away from the population.

Not everyone believes that Project Pluto was really the atomic ramjet project. Some believe that Project Pluto was a project that was formed to be responsible for evaluating all UFO information pertaining to space technology. As you can see this is entirely different than developing a nuclear ramjet engine. It is interesting how two completely different things can be thought to be Project Pluto.

Project Pounce was nothing more than a way to recover downed and crashed UFOs. The military would go out to recover a craft and almost immediately a cover story would be developed and steps taken to make the recovery look like something else. The types of cover stories used were mining accidents, experimental plane crashes and such. The project never ran out of stories and from what I can tell, might still be responsible for making up new ones today.

Project Plato was said to be a project geared toward alien detection and relations. The year was 1953 and two bodies were detected by Project Plato moving through space and heading toward the earth. At first it was thought that these bodies were asteroids, but when they were seen to be maneuvering, there was only one thing that they could be and that was spaceships. The U.S. already knew that aliens existed, because they had recovered some dead ones and a few live ones and it was said that one was alive and living with us. Arrangements were made for a landing and we came face to face with the aliens. They had communicated with us using binary code and we had responded. Before they landed a race of humanoid beings contacted us and said they wanted to help us, but first we had to destroy all our nukes and then they would help us to become more spiritual. We refused and they left. The ships that landed contained a race known as the Greys and they were from Zeta Reticuli.

It is said that we made all sorts of secret agreements with them, including allowing them to abduct humans on condition that they make lists of those abducted and give them to us, that they don't harm humans and wipe their memory clean of the abduction experience and that they give us technology. We built underground bases for them and for some unknown reason, they were mostly under Indian reservations. It has been said that they constantly have lied to us, not submitted any lists and there is even a story about a battle at one of the underground bases, the one at Dolce, where we lost a lot of people and they suffered no causalities They had promised not to interfere with our affairs and we promised not to interfere with theirs. It was also said that we were selling illegal drugs to fund the alien projects.
