Abductions, Betty and Barney Hill

Abductions by aliens have been talked about many times. It seems that there must be thousands of people who truly believe that they have been abducted and there are almost as many that believe that they have been abducted repeatly. With the use of hypnotism there are still others that are remembering their abductions. But of all these cases, and there are some compelling ones, the case of Betty and Barney Hill is the most famous.

It was in the month of September in 1961 that Betty and Barney were returning from Canada. They were driving along Route 3, a road in New Hampshire. It was about 11 pm when they saw something. They thought that they were looking at a bright star. They parked the car and got out and took a pair of binoculars with them. But the light reversed its direction so the Hills went back to the car and drove away. Then a funny thing happened, the light turned around and headed toward the car. Again they stopped the car to look at the light. Barney said it was a plane but Betty insisted that it couldn't be a plane because the object was flat. There were windows on the side of the craft and the Hills could see figures moving around inside. On further examination they realized that the craft was really pancake shaped. Barney got out of the car and headed up the road toward the craft to get a better look, but he became frightened when fins with red flashing lights started to protrude out of each side of the craft. He ran back to the car. Barney was a respected member of his community and worked for the U.S. Postal Service.

Barney got back to the car and got his revolver. He had kept a revolver in the car for protection. The craft was closing in on his car and a frightened Barney Hill pointed his gun at it. At this point Barney Hill only remembered being home. Betty Hill didn't remember going back home either only the fact that she was there. Not only were they home, but they had lost over two hours that they couldn't account for. They decided to try and forget the incident. But the experience didn't end there. Betty kept getting horrible nightmares and Barney began to get sick.

Time marched on. The year was 1964 and now the Hills felt they needed medical help. They went to a psychiatrist that specialized in hypnosis. The psychiatrist decided he would hypnotize each one separately. The strange thing here was that both the Hills recited identical stories. The psychiatrist was at a loss to understand this. They were hypnotized many times and the stories remained the same. The stories were terrifying. They both stated that they were taken onto a large spaceship by non human beings. They were forced to undergo painful medical tests while the aliens starred at them from emotionless, large black eyes.

The case of the Hill's abduction was the first documented ufo abduction case and the general public reticuled it. It was front page news at the time and the scientific community also scoffed at it.

But there was a strange element to this case, a very disturbing element indeed, one that can't be explained away. Betty Hill recalled, during one of her hypnosis sessions, that there was a three dimensional star map that she was shown. It seemed that even though the aliens didn't communicate with her on a verbal level, she was able to communicate with them by using telepathy. She could recall the precise positions of the stars on the star map the aliens showed her, and was able to create a drawing of it. The drawing was taken to the top astronomers who dismissed it out of hand. It didn't end there however. An amateur astronomer took the map and tried to match it to all the known star systems, but no match was found, then astounding as it sounds, a new star system was discovered and it matched the map. The aliens had come from the Zeta Reticuli system. Betty's map was an exact match. So it seems Betty Hill was privileged to find out about the Zeta Reticuli system over ten years before anyone on Earth knew it existed. If this case was a fraud then where did this map come from? No one has ever been able to prove Betty Hill was lying.

It seems that the evidence is overwhelming that the Hills were indeed abducted by aliens. Not only are there many people who claim to have been abducted, but there has been evidence of foreign objects taken from their bodies. Are these some sort of tracking devices? Who knows. Hypnosis to revive memories has been used in many cases and psychiatrists disagree among themselves as to its true value. But one thing is for sure, many of the stories, no matter in what part of the world they come from, all seem to contain many of the same facts.
