Sometimes it seems like the world is being turned upside down. I heard a story about an Arizona man who has property that adjoins the border with Mexico. For over ten years he has been trying without success I might add, to stop illegal aliens from crossing over his property. What he would do is round them up and turn them back over to the U.S. Border Patrol. They were destroying his property and killing his livestock. Heck they even were breaking into his home. Well guess what, he is being sued by 16 Mexicans. They claim that he violated there civil rights by what he did. Yep only in America. I guess we all know about the U.S. Border Guards who chased a Mexican trying to enter this country illegally and shot at him. The story goes that this drug peddler was an informant for the U.S. government. The Guards were tried and convicted and they went to jail while the Illegal alien, who was also a felon, was released. Yep that is some kind of warped justice I would say. The guards are finally going to be released after tens of thousands of requests were made to then President Bush who waited until near the very end of his term and then only commuted their sentences, leaving them with the convictions. The are due to be released in March. Things are not much better in Britain, they also seem to have a twisted view of justice in some cases. A burglar broke into a man's home in Nottingham. The man was a farmer and feared for his life, so he shot the burglar. He didn't kill him and some would say that is why he is having so much trouble. The burglar survived and is now suing the farmer for injuries. On top of all that, it is free legal aid that is helping him with his case. Have we all gone bonkers folks? It certainly seems that way. Here he was a pet store owner. He didn't do anything wrong. He just owned a pet store. You would think that this poor guy couldn't get in trouble for that, but he did. The pet store owner gave another guy $39,500 as part of a $80,000 contract to build him a new building, which he never did, but he kept the money. The pet store owner finally filed criminal charges against the alleged builder, as many of us would have. The contractor then sued the pet store owner saying that he was protected because he filed for bankruptcy protection in a different state and all claims are stayed against him. The judge agreed and said that the pet store owner violated the bankruptcy ruling. Yeah never mind that the contractor took his money. The pet store owner also told the judge that he knew nothing about the fact that there was a bankruptcy The judge didn't care. Figure this out, the contractor was convicted on the criminal charge. This is beyond me folks. Apparently the contractor must have taken the money after bankruptcy was declared and if that happened why was it covered by that law? I think that someone should see if the judge deposited any money in his account lately. The Law Commission in Britain is recommending that criminals be given greater rights to sue the public and police if they are injured committing a crime. This will allow them to get greater compensation. The Law Commission stated the it realizes that their proposals are sometimes controversial, but stated THAT EVEN CRIMINALS HAVE RIGHTS. Oh give me a break. I have seen this kind of stuff before. I remember when an ultra liberal judge who used to always let criminals go, got mugged. For about two weeks he turned into a hanging judge before reverting back to his old habits. Three subway punks decided to find an easy mark and steal their money after inflecting pain on their helpless victim. The found an old man over 70 years old. One of the punks served as lookout while another choked the old man and the third went through his pockets taking anything he could find. It just so happened that two plain clothesed policemen came across the scene and ordered the punks to surrender. One of them the choker, decided to run for it and got shot. He is in a wheelchair. He sued the police and the city and was awarded 4.8 million dollars. What the heck is wrong with us? A man went into an auto parts store. Oh he didn't go in there to buy anything, he went in to rob it. He walked in to the store with a gun in his hand and was swinging it around. Two employees jumped him and turned the gun on him. He escaped, but was captured a week later. He then sued the store and the employees stating that even though he ran out, they continued to chase him and beat him. This is a guy that got 18 years in prison for this since he was a repeat offender. Part of the claim is for emotional distress. Ah the poor criminal, did the big bad parts guys scare you? Not all absurd law suits are criminals against victims. Anheuser-Busch was sued in 1991 for false advertising. A man stated that when he drank Bud Light, beautiful women did not come to him as advertised in the commercial and that this had caused him mental injury, emotional distress and in turn caused him to lose over $10,000. Then there was the guy that just had to sue someone, but no one fit the bill, so he sued himself. He claimed that he have violated his own civil rights. Now if you are confused at this point, that is okay, since I am writing this and I am confused. He said he did this by drinking too much and then committing crimes that landed him in jail for which he is serving a 23 year sentence. When asked how he could get any money this way, he replied that he is in prison and has no money, so the state will have to pay. Yeah, sure. |
