A news story which broke on October 9, 2003 states that the limb of a Yeti
might have been found. The Yeti is known by many other names such as
Big Foot, Sasquatch, Skunk Apes (I wouldn't call it this to it's face)
and the Abominable Snowman, among others. The limb was found part way
up a mountain in Siberia. The region is very remote. The limb itself
is very old and is believed to be at least 3000-4000 years of age. Even
though the region is remote, the people that are there state they have
seen the creature many times.
Below is a photo from NASA taken from space of the Himalayan Mountain
Range.
Big Foot or the North American Yeti, has been seen in
every state in the continental U.S., but it seems it may never have
been seen in Delaware. I, for one, would like to know why? Doesn't
this fact seen a little strange? Its almost like saying ufos never
fly over Delaware., which we know isn't true. Does Delaware. have
some magical power that repels Big Foots or should I say Big Feet?
Interesting question!
Many years before the arrival of the white man to north
america, the indians had Sasquatch sightings. Seems this creature
has been around for quite some time. The interesting thing about some
of the sightings of Big Foot is the fact that not only was one creature
seen, but whole family groups were observed. These creatures are reported
to be very tall ranging from a short one which is about six feet in
height to the really big ones that are about nine feet tall. When
foot prints let by the animals were examined it was noticed that unlike
an ape which has a divergent large toe, the Big Foot foot print is
more like mans. Many scientists believe that if it does exist than
it is a close relation, but not man. It is sort of an advanced ape.
But why aren't they seen more often if there are many
of them out there, and why don't we ever find any bodies, after all
everything has to die? Some people say that they are nocturnal and
only come out at night, and the ones that were seen in daylight were
unusual. They are rumored to live in caves and maybe they drag their
dead back there.
Another theory, which I can't buy, but it is out there,
is that Big Foot is a Neanderthal. If that were true that would make
him a human of sorts. It is just too hard to believe that he would
hide out without trying to make contact somewhere, after all, wouldn't
human nature compel it?
The famous mountain climber, Sir Edmund Hillary, who
climbed Mt. Everest, led an expedition in 1960 along with Desmond
Doig. He placed cameras with trip wires around the area and used time
lapse photography. After 10 months, he had no pictures of a Yeti.
Yet many people seem to have seen them. On October 3, 2003 it was
reported that a Sasquatch was sighted in Northwest Arkansas. On March
of 2001 a Texas man was driving home form work. A figure lumbered
across the road in front of him. It was covered with hair and was
between 6-7 feet tall. He said it was thinner than what it usually
is expected to be. He also reported that two other workers had seen
it. In the Spring of 1992 a young woman in California, near Mt. Shasta,
was hiking with friends. The proceeded to set up camp and build a
fire. She heard a noise and saw someone standing about one hundred
yards down the trail. It turned out not to be anyone from the camp.
She said she spoke to another camper who stated she had the same experience
a year before and said it was a creature that seemed to walk like
a man.
Sasquatchs are a very popular topic. Even a crater on
Mars is named Sasquatch Crater. Mt. Helens has an area known as the
Sasquatch steps. There are many areas named after the venerable Sasquatch.
In the following story the punctuation isn't quite right, it is a
translation, but I think you get the idea.

?MONKEY-MAN,¦ ?DOG BOY,¦ AND OTHER ODD CREATURES KEEP
BOTHERING ORDINARY HUMANS
First there were reports of a steel-clawed ?monkey-man'¦ in
India, then a 10-year-old ``dog boy'' in Chile, and now residents of
Canada's wilderness are reporting that ?Bigfoot,¦ a hairy ape-man,
might be on the prowl in northern Ontario, the National Post reported.
Residents of a native Indian reserve 1,000 miles north of Toronto have
discovered 14-inch-long footprints, the newspaper is quoted by Reuters
as saying.
?It's definitely not a bear,¦ Abraham Hunter, chief of the 260-member
band, told the Post in Monday's editions. This is not the first Bigfoot
report at the reserve. Two elders claim to have spotted the creature
20 years ago, Mr. Hunter said, and stories about it have been told for
hundreds of years.
?These things happen all the time, but we're surprised because we underestimate
the power of imagination and the power of belief,'' Laurence Kirmayer,
director of McGill University's division of social and transcultural
psychiatry, told the paper.
Such sightings are typically cultural-specific, he said.
On June 14, a government officer with 31 years of experience also came
across an odd-looking track 95 miles east of the reserve, the newspaper
said.
?I couldn't explain what it was. I naturally thought it might be Bigfoot
because of the shape of it,'' he told the Post.
Tales of a huge apelike creature are not unusual in Canada. In the western
Rocky Mountain regions of British Columbia reports of a mysterious ape-man
called Sasquatch - similar to the Yeti of the Himalayas - have existed
for generations.

Is the Big Foot, Sasquatch, Skunk Ape or whatever you would like to
call it the equivalent of the Lock Ness Monster? I know it is not supposed
to look anything like it, that isn't what I mean. What I am talking
about is the fact that there are some photographs of it, many sightings
but no one has ever captured one, or have they? There is a report that
a hundred years ago a female was captured by the mountain people in
the Himalayas and she was taught how to grind corn. The story goes on
further to say she had three sons and they looked normal except for
very strong jaws and wide noses. They went on to have normal lives.
Who knows, maybe you know the descendant of a Sasquatch but are not
aware of it? Know anyone who grinds corn?
