Boy are there a lot of unusual stories out there. I don't want to turn this site into the Globe (A weekly sensationalist news paper) but I thought that it might be interesting to read about some unusual things that happened.

Here is one of my favorite stories. A Russian man went out and bought a loaf of bread. Humm, seems quite usual doesn't it? I bet some of you out there even did the same thing. But I also bet that when you did, you just got a loaf of bread without any surprises in it, didn't you? Our Russian friend found something in his bread that he wasn't quite expecting. No it wasn't an insect or the usual dead mouse. He found an entire bat baked into his loaf. All the authorities would say was that they inspected the bakery and it was in breach of the local health regulations and they closed it down.

A truck driver and his co driver were driving to a certain town that was five hours away. Along the way, one stopped for refreshments and the other laid down in the back of the truck. When the first man came out of the diner, he noticed that his watch stopped. He looked at the clock on the dash and that had stopped also. He turned on the radio but it didn't work. He went back to the dinner to look at their clock but it had stopped too. His partner woke up and was very confused. They set out to finish the trip but when they did, they noticed that they had arrived at their destination two whole hours early, making the trip only three hours. This was not possible hauling a trailer with a heavy load, yet it happened.

Usually when a fire breaks out, it is caused by a simple event. This was not the case on the Seattle monorail. It was a strange set of events that cause the fire on Memorial day. First a low speed drive shaft broke on the southbound train. When this shaft broke it caused another shaft to rotate much faster. The shaft rotated so fast that it broke. As this shaft broke a piece of it sailed into a housing at a different part of the train, breaking that. As the housing broke it created a sparks. The sparks changed the air to ionized air. This is similar to what happens during a lightning strike. The train was stopped but the ionized air created a short circuit and thus the train was set on fire.

What is going on in Holland? Some of the football fans there (soccer) have ordered special orange plastic helmets that are reminiscent of Nazi style helmets and are going to wear them during the world cup games. Lest you think that only a few people are going to do this, it is expected that over 100,000 of these helmets will be sold. This story was originally reported on Ananova.

A man in Michigan has been going out on crime patrol dressed in tights and a cape. He wears a mask and has been doing this for over 5 years. His career came to an end when he was arrested for drunk driving. He was unmasked and his identity became known to all. No this is not a joke.

A gentleman was told that he won a prize of about 30,000 dollars. All he had to do to collect it was sign a few papers. Unfortunately for him the grand prize was really a grand loan. A grand loan with grand interest. Beware what you sign even if you think it is harmless.

British agents were said to have been using a hollow rock to bug an area of a Russian park. This has to sound strange to everyone. It sure leaves a million questions unanswered. Did certain high level Russians meet there every day and sit on a bench near the rock and discuss secret matters? Was the rock put there to record the conversations of people the British agents were talking to and this way they didn't need to wear a wire in case they were searched? Who knows, but James Bond would have loved this?

Are you always forgetting things? You may forget where you put your keys, or your wallet or purse, but a recent study shows the one item that you are not liable to misplace is your cell phone. In Japan a cell phone is the only item that students hardly ever forget to take with them. Some schools there have decided to print the students identity card on the back of their phones, this way they will always have them.

A man in Kentucky was arrested while he piloted a wheel chair down the center of a busy road. It was deemed that he was drunk and he was only kept in jail one day until he sobered up. The next day the man was spotted driving a stolen ambulance. The police began to chase him. The chase lasted for three counties until finally the tires were shot out and the vehicle ground to a halt. When the police finally opened the vehicle they were surprised to see that there was a dead deer in the back of the vehicle. The man had no comment.

Talk about friendly fire, the first German that was killed in World War II was killed by the Japanese in China, in 1937. The U.S. Army Air Corps killed the highest ranking American soldier in World War II, he was Lt. Gen. Lesley McNair. A Japanese World War II Ace, Hiroyoshi Nishizawa had shot down 80 planes. He was killed when he was riding as a passenger in a plane.

Ever see parts fall off cars as they are traveling? I have and it is usually a muffler or part of a tail pipe. This is exactly what people thought in the cars that were following the car in question, as what they thought was a large section of exhaust pipe fell from the bottom of the car in front. As a person went over to it, he was horrified to see it move. It was an 8 foot long snake that had hitched a ride under the car and decided it was time to get off. No one knows where the snake came from.

A dog in England fell into the River Tees. The dog was drowning when several seals came to it's rescue and pushed it to the shore.

A report states that a certain radio station in Scotland has been having problems of the paranormal kind. Witnesses state that microphones are falling down by themselves, technical faults are reoccurring and that a ghost has attacked the staff. The studio in question has been closed down.

A Japanese man decided that his father, who had died, might come to life again. He kept his father's body in his freezer for the last 13 years.

Well so much for strange reports. I hope that you found them interesting and a refreshing change of pace.
