Those Strange Holes

We all live on a planet that has many surprises. Sometimes a storm will come out of nowhere, a hot day will come along when you are in the colder season, or even a lake will dry up overnight. There is no accounting for the different natural surprises that one might encounter. To this we have to add holes that appear out of nowhere. One day we might go to bed and the next day we see a huge hole outside our home. This is not as uncommon as some people think. Look at Russia for example, they are experiencing a deluge of holes that appear out of nowhere in their forests. The holes are mostly circular in shape and so deep that it is hard to see where they end. Some look like they were made with a boring machine because the sides of the holes are so smooth. It is said to be impossible to truck in any equipment that would have to be used to make a hole like this, because of where they are located. Some people have climbed to the bottom of a few of these holes and there is nothing strange there, the hole just ends. Here is a video from YouTube showing some of these holes:

A very large hole has been found by Google Earth, in China. The holes in that area go as deep as 2,000 feet, but these are not so mysterious. There is a river that is cutting through limestone and it is believed that the river is dissolving the stone and causing these huge sinkholes. An expert stated, “You are impressed by how abrupt they are. These do tend to be the biggest in the world.” A geologist stated, “You could fit a couple of Empire State Buildings in and they’d disappear,”.

In 2008 a UFO was seen and videoed over a home. When it left a hole was found a little while later. The hole was unusual since it was a small hole with concentric circles around it. The town came and filled in the hole, but nothing would grow there. Several days later unmarked vehicles came and searched the area near the hole. Since the appearance of the hole, helicopters have been doing searches of the area. What is this hole? Are the searchers more interested in the hole, or the UFO and what are they looking for? In 2007, a mysterious hole appeared in a frozen lake in Latvia. The hole had frozen over, but it was clearly visible. It had a diameter of about 25 feet. After talking to witnesses it was found that something fell into the lake and on the same night a UFO was sighted. Beams of light appeared over the lake about a week later. Even though the temperature was far below freezing, the hole in the lake remained unfrozen for over 2 days. Investigators visited the area of the hole, but were not able to give an explanation for it, or what may be in the lake. The only thing that they found out, is that there was strong background radiation near the hole.

NASA has discovered a mysterious hole on the Moon. It is said to be about 200 feet wide and abut 300 feet deep. It is believed that it might be connected to an underground tunnel known as a lava tube. An astronomer stated, "This is a fascinating discovery. It shows that our nearest neighbor in space can still spring surprises on us." The hole is in the area known as Marius Hills and was discovered by the Kaguya probe from Japan. An interesting aside is that astronomers believe that there are many tunnels on the moon, but this is the first time an entrance to one has been found. Some scientists believe that we could use these tunnels to shelter astronauts from a moon colony.

A hole appeared in a large cloud. It was hundreds of meters across. The cloud was over Mobile, Alabama and immediately people were wondering what could have punched through this cloud and caused this hole? No one knows for sure how the hole got into the cloud, but the scientists believe that they might have an explanation for it. The explanation that they propose is that ice crystals could have formed in a higher cloud and fell through this cloud, forming the hole.

One person is claiming that a hole opened up in a large rock on his property and that a light is shinning out, but I haven’t been able to verify this.

Scientists are investigating an area at the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean, where a huge hole has been found. It is estimated to be hundreds of square kilometers. An expert states that the Earth’s crust should be about 4 miles deep in that area, but it isn’t. The hole has the Earth’s mantle at the bottom. Scientists are excited about this find, even though they don’t understand how this could be. The reason for this excitement is that this gives them the chance to examine the mantle. It is now thought that other holes will exist at the bottom of the ocean.

In 2006, a man announced that he found a hole that was bottomless. We know of course that this is probably impossible and an exaggeration, but let’s say that the hole is extremely deep, so deep that the bottom has yet to be determined. He claims that he first noticed a black circle and when he put his hand on it, it went in. He then threw things into it, but they just kept falling. He tried to fill the hole but it was so deep that he couldn’t.

Could there be some hole out there that is really bottomless and perhaps leads to somewhere that isn’t on the Earth? We just keep learning so many new things about this planet, that nothing would surprise me.
