That Hot Question Comes Up Again

The question keeps coming up. It is being asked in many different circles, but the people asking it are still far in the minority. What is this burning question? It is, “did we actually land on the moon?” The question has caused some fierce debates. At first it does seem absurd, I am the first to admit that, but as we delve deeper into the premise, we find a lot of strange things that seem to indicate that the idea that it was staged, has a slight chance of being true. Before we get into this question, we would have to find a reason that the government would stage such a thing. Why would a country spend billions of dollars on rockets and pads, develop a corps of astronauts and conduct all sorts of test, just to make up such a story? I guess we have to go back to the days of the Cold War and maybe even World War II, to find an answer to this.

In the U.S. deception became a way of conducting our business during World War II, it became a large part of our overall strategy. False documents were planted on the corpses of soldiers to mislead the enemy. One of the greatest of these plots involved a high ranking officer that had died and was frozen for later use. He had counterfeit plans placed on him and his body dumped into the ocean in an area where it would be washed up on a beach and found by the Germans. Another famous deception by us, was building an artificial army around General Patton, It even had radio traffic, blowup vehicles that looked real from the air, and a few soldiers assigned to it. It was very successful in confusing the Germans as to where the invasion of Europe was to take place. Our deceptions in different area are known to have continued to this day.

When we look at the Soviet side of the Cold War the first thing we realize is that there may have been far more deaths in their attempts to send a man into space than was admitted. Stories abound about others who died in the coldness of space, or were blown up by rockets that never made it into orbit, until finally Gagarin was successful. The Soviets routinely deceived their citizens about life in the United States and pictured a horrible place with race riots and starving workers that were slaves to the government, basically they were picturing a hell on earth where none existed. They went on to say that a few rich people kept the U.S. citizens in virtual slavery and that neo-fascism was rampant. Deception was a very important part of the Cold War for the Soviets.

Here we have two countries that relied on deception at a time when supposedly both were competing to send men into space and land them on the moon. Knowing this, is it such a far stretch to think that one country might have finally fooled the other and in so doing fooled the rest of the world? I am not saying that this happened, just that it could have and that the atmosphere for this deception was certainly correct. If this did happen we have to ask ourselves, why would the Soviets remain silent about it, surely over a period of time they would have found out? Maybe they just didn't want the world to think that they were just jealous and it was sour grapes, or maybe, they also had something to hide and we found out about it?

Moving on, we have to ask the question, why do some people think that the moon landings are faked? As I said that atmosphere of the times was one where deception was commonplace, but that certainly is not the only reason for believing that the landing didn't happen. NASA itself has caused much of this problem. NASA has a history of altering photographs of the moon. This was first discovered when people began to notice that photos on the NASA website were changed. but the catalog numbers of the photos were kept the same. Why would this happen? Other photos seemed to have the same backgrounds and yet were supposed to have been taken from other areas of the moon. Another problem that no one has ever accounted for is the tv signal that was received on earth. The tv camera that was put on Apollo 11 was far more advanced that any other tv camera and yet the picture was so fuzzy that you could hardly see the event.

Training photos of the astronauts practicing on a stage that was made to look exactly like the moon with a lander on it, certainly didn't help when they were released. People began to say that they looked exactly like the photos that were released of the moon landing. Some of them only needed the correct background to look exactly like the real Apollo 11 photos. This doesn't mean that the moon photos were faked, however. Astronauts certainly were allowed to practice their moon activities and do this in an environment that resembled the surface of the moon as much as possible. Because of this reality, rumors were bound to be spread about the photos.

If we gather a group of people more than a certain amount in number, there are always going to be doubting Thomases on almost any topic. Maybe this is a healthy thing, because we wouldn't want some things to just be accepted with being questioned. On the other hand we wouldn't want everything we are told and shown to be doubted. It is a fine line that we walk between believing and doubting. All the evidence must be weighed. In this case one of the problems is that some of us believe that we don't have all the evidence to make an intelligent decision. They base this claim on the fact that none of the satellites going around the moon have ever taken a recognizable photo of the lunar landing site, but maybe this is a good thing. It seems to me it would have been an easy thing to fake a photo of the site and put it up. At least this hasn't been done. The photo that I show above certainly is not concrete proof of anything.

I personally believe that we did land on the moon, but as most of you know, I also believe that we are still landing on the moon, but using something other than Saturn rockets to do it. I can understand why some do not believe we landed there, because it has gotten harder and harder to take what we are told by the various government agencies as gospel and who knows, maybe I will be proven wrong some day and the doubters will be proven right?
