Noah's Ark Found Again
Noah's Ark It seems that every couple of years we see Noah's Ark in the news. In case you haven't seen the latest news article (at the time of the writing of this article) there was a Chinese led team that claims that they are 99% sure that they have found the ark on top of Mt. Ararat. One American scientist has dropped out of the team saying that he knows that the so called ark is a fraud, because he was present when old timbers were hauled up the mountain by tribal people to fool the researchers. But there is more to this, another researcher stated that he felt it was impossible to do this and wedge part of a ship into an ice cave. I guess he felt that the ship wreck had to have been there for many years to get into that position. The timbers have been dated at somewhere 4800 years old. I remember seeing a television show years ago that showed the wreck on the mountain and they had stated that a man and his nephew had been to the ship. They also said that the Turkish authorities were not allowing anyone to go there. Over the years the wreck had been photographed from the sky many times. But what makes some experts claim that this is the ark built by Noah? For one thing that state that the size is correct when compared to the bible, which is 300 Egyptian cubits or 515 feet. The second reason is that the bible states that the ark came to rest on Mt. Ararat, where the wreck is. The story of the ark has fallen out of favor with many people today and some think that while there may have been regional floods there was no world wide flood. They also dispute that the bible was referring to a particular mountain in Turkey. It has been said that the ark contains a secret, a very mysterious one. While the ark is wood, there are said to be fittings on it that are very high tech and are made of aluminum and titanium. How could this be, when the ark was said to have been build so many thousands of years ago? An archaeologist is said to have found a piece of pottery within 20 feet of a boat that had a very unusual picture on it. It was of a man with a hammer wearing a headdress and on that headdress was the name Noah. There was also a picture of a bird and fish. I want to make this abundantly clear, I am now talking about two other supposed arks, one that is located in Turkey in Noah's Ark National Park that was discovered in 1987 and another near the recent find. The wood in these arks is petrified. One archaeologist stated that the structure in the park was man made and is Noah's Ark for sure. Here is the craziest part, remember Francis Gary Powers? He was the pilot that was shot down in the U-2 over the Soviet Union on May 1, 1960. It is said that he is the one who spotted the ark while flying over Turkey on his way to perform the Soviet flyover. Okay so now we have a problem. Could there have been three arks? Why do modern metals appear in the ark in Noah's Ark National Park? If the ark in the park, gee I am a poet and don't know it, is not Noah's ark, then who built it and why? We just keep finding out that ancient people were far more advanced than we thought. Could it turn out that they had ships back then and they all looked like arks? If we find a couple more of these things that may have to be the conclusion that we come to. That would explain a lot of things, such as how ancient trade was conducted around the world for one thing. How many times have we heard that articles and objects from around the world were found in very ancient digs. Scientists have been wondering for many years how this could have been. We might even find that because of the way it was built with sort of a cabin on top of the deck, that the back of the cabin acted as a sail of sorts and allowed the vessel to move forward. A further examination of the ship is warranted. Perhaps sails had been discovered and then forgotten about in later years? Also some sort of steering apparatus should be searched for, maybe even a long oar. Another idea that some espouse is that there was more than one Noah and that several floods took place around the world and several arks were built. I have never seen any evidence to indicate this anywhere and it does sound a little far out to me, but what does anyone of us really know about Noah's ark anyway? As I said, there is more than one spot on this mountain where an ark has said to have been found. The two areas are about 17 miles apart. One of the reasons that the Chinese claim has excited so many people is that cages have been found on the ark that were said to have housed animals. Again this is an assumption. Maybe the ship that was found was some sort of ancient slave ship. Just because cages were found, does not necessarily mean that animals were aboard. We have to remember that slavery was prevalent almost everywhere in those days. When your country got conquered, you had a good chance of becoming a slave. The problem is that just because some ancient ship has been found that should not have existed, that certainly doesn't mean that it was Noah's ark. Even a piece of pottery showing a man with a bandana with the name Noah on it doesn't prove that the ark was found. How do we know that the ancient ship was not constructed from the idea of Noah's ark and that is why the pottery was there, it was sort of a commemorative piece, celebrating the real Noah, who the bible said built such a boat. That is the thing, the bible sort of has the plans for such a boat in it and what was to stop someone from using that to construct an ark type boat? There is also another question, did the author of the ark passage in the bible know of such boats that already had been built? There is also the question of how did one man ever build a boat almost two football fields long, three stories high and 50 feet wide even with a few people helping him? Another problem may be the carbon dating of the wood. Carbon dating is known to sometimes be off. Previous tests have come up with more recent dates. One theory states that what was found was a shelter built into the mountain, not an ark at all. One scientist stated that if all the water in the world were used, it still couldn't get an ark that high into the mountains. He also said that he has a thick folder filled with so called ark discoveries and that he thinks this one will eventually be added to all those failed discoveries. He said, "These guys have already gotten the answer worked out ahead of time, and then they go out to prove it." |
