Creepy, I guess we have all used this word at one time or another to describe an uncomfortable situation. The word creepy denotes some sort of situation that either reminds you of, or is connected to the paranormal. Here is how the word is defined in some dictionaries:
1. Annoying and unpleasant
2. Causing a sensation as of things crawling on your skin

I think that the second definition fits the words creepy-crawly better.
I remember one time when I was in the woods taking a walk with some friends and we cut through some bushes and got covered with insects. That was truly a creepy-crawly situation. We couldn't get them brushed off fast enough to suit us, of course we were only about 12 years old at the time. Let's look a little more towards the paranormal. One of the creepiest places that you could get locked into might be a museum, especially one that featured mummys and associated statues and objects. I imagine that it might be hard for someone to sleep, if they got locked in the Museum of Natural History for example, with all the displays of stuffed animals and dinosaur bones. But there are a lot more creepier places out there according to some people.

One person mentioned what he thought was a very creepy happening when he went to sell his house. He stated that some people came over to look at it and that this was not the first time that they did. He had left the house so that they could be alone with the agent, but as time went by, he had to use the bathroom. He went back to the house and found that all the doors had been unlocked, but there was no sight of the agent or people, except that the agent's car was in his driveway. As he went through the house looking for the people, he happened to glance out his window and there was the agent running for her life across the lawn to her car and the people were no where to be found. He has no idea what happened, what might have been seen, or anything. This was a strange situation indeed.

Isn't it funny how many places that are said to be haunted involve American Indians. Mostly it is because a particular place was built on an indian burial ground, or that innocent indians were killed for crimes that white men committed. I am going to tell you about such a place. The place is a tavern and it is located in Brainerd, Minnesota. The story goes that two indians were near the town and out in a field picking berries. This was in the 19th century, supposedly in the 1870s or 1880s. A white girl had just been raped and killed and a mob ran toward the indians. They were dragged back to the town and immediately hanged outside the local tavern. Years later a white man confessed to raping and killing the girl. That tavern is still there today. Many people have reported hearing things when the tavern is closed. They say that they hear drums and what sounds like American Indian people talking and making noises. Many have said that the tavern has become very creepy.

There is a building in Ireland that a printing company is housed in. They have been there for about 20 years and in that time the workers have had many strange experiences that they can't explain. When they were in the building for only a few months they began to hear noises of boxes being moved around, doors slamming and opening and footsteps on stairs, when no one was there. That was only the beginning. A printer was working one day and doing a complicated job that took all his concentration. He had heard the door open and close behind him, but he thought that it was just another worker and paid little attention to it. He then felt a tap on the right shoulder a couple of times and turned around but no one was there. As the other workers heard about this, they kidded the printer. The printer believes that it was the ghost of a woman that tapped him and that she walks the building. One day he and a couple of other employees were in the basement and they all heard a woman's voice clearly calling the printer by name, but no one was there. Sometimes the first person to enter the building finds that lights and radio on, even though they have been turned off at night. Here we have another creepy situation.

When we talk about creepy places, one of the creepiest has to be the home of Charles Wright Congelier. It was located in Pittsburgh, Pa. The haunting of the house started when Congelier was found having an affair with the maid and his wife stabbed him to death and then chopped the maid's head off. Would you say that she was angry? The house remained empty for over 20 years, then it was fixed up so that railroad workers could stay there. This was in 1892. The workers were not happy in the house and said that they couldn't sleep because they kept hearing sobbing and a woman screaming so they moved out. The house remained empty again until about 1900 when a doctor bought the house. In 1901 the neighbors stated that they heard terribly screaming coming from the house. The neighbors ran out to see what was happening and just then a red explosion blew every window out and the ground trembled and the sidewalks cracked. The house was investigated and a decomposed woman was found strapped to a bed and the bodies of five headless women were buried in the basement. The doctor had disappeared. Again the house was vacant, but eventually was remodeled, but this time 2 of the workers were found dead in the basement. They had only been down there for a few minutes. Thomas Edison came to inspect the house while he was building a machine to contact the dead. Seven years went by and then a drunk was arrested. He was the missing doctor and told the police a horrific story about demonic possession, torture and murder, along with sex orgies that had occurred in the house. The police didn't believe the drunk was actually the doctor so they released him. Everyone that knew about the house felt that not only was it haunted, but that there were evil spirits in it. A huge gas explosion occurred from a large gas storage facility nearby, destroying the house forever along with hundreds of other homes in the area that were in a 20 mile radius. Here is the strange part, no trace of the house was ever found after the blast and this is the only house that was completely wiped off the face of the earth. If the house had stood, most say it would have been the most haunted place in America. Hey was that a creepy story or not? If you would like to see where the house stood, it was at the site of the Route 65/1279 interchange.

I always wonder why when we see those programs with people investigation ghosts and spirits and such, that they have to turn out the lights? If a ghost is supposedly haunting a place wouldn't it also be there in the light? Anyway there are thousands of stories on the Internet where people claim to have visited what I call creepy places and came in contact with the paranormal. Some of my readers have also submitted stories to me in the past about their paranormal experiences. I will go into this again in the future.
