When Dreams Come True

There is a segment of the population that believes that some of us can tell the future. They feel that all of us have the power, but only some of us have learned how to use it and even those of us that have, may not realize it. I know that this sounds like gobbledygook, so let me explain what I am talking about. These people believe that some of us have learned how to predict future events by controlling our dreams. The problem as they state it, is that this is done subconsciously. Indeed there are many cases of people dreaming about something happening and it came true. The big question is that do people make some of these things happen because they dreamed that they would? When we think of dreams today, we think of them as something that happens from brain activity while we are asleep, but the ancients had a completely different idea of what dreams were. Many ancients believed that dreams were messages from God, because of this they may have went to great lengths to have made their dreams come true.

Before Hannibal invaded Italy, he went to the prophets and asked them to dream. He wanted them to have a dream about how his invasion would turn out. The prophets told him that they had many dreams and that they all showed him winning many battles. Based on their dreams, he continued with his plans to invade Italy and did win many battles, but ultimately lost the war. In this instance the dreams were correct, but the outcome was different. Had the prophets really dreamt these prophecies, or had they merely said what they thought that Hannibal wanted to hear?

Napoleon was the scourge of Europe. He won many battles against the strongest countries there. On the eve of his famous battle of Waterloo, it is said that he had a dream. The dream was one that gave him pause when he woke up. It had shown a black cat that was moving back and forth between his army and the enemy armies. As the cat moved around one could not tell where it would settle. It finally came back to the French army and sat right in front of it. A black cat was the symbol of bad luck even in Napoleon's time and this prediction was clear. Napoleon had dreamt that the French army would lose the battle. I guess that every one knows what happed at this battle, Napoleon was beaten badly. I guess he should have listened to his dream.

Could dreams really come about because of some outside influence? Maybe this could be the case in some instances. Experiments were conducted to see if this was possible in 1964 at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York. It was shown that some information could be transmitted to sleeping people that had never seen this information previously. Statistically a questionnaire has shown that about 25 percent of the people listed in Who's Who in America have made decisions based on results that they dreamt about. Let's try and wrap our brains around this one. This means that every one out of four business decisions are made because someone dreamt that it would be advantageous to do so.

Edgar Cayce was known as the sleeping prophet. He would go into a dream like state and give his prophecies. He gave so many that his prophecies filled an entire library and they can be referenced today. One of his talents was said to be that he could accurately interpret the dreams of others and give them insight into them. Here is what Cayce said about dreams, "Dreams, visions, impressions, to the entity in the normal sleeping state are the presentations of the experiences necessary for the development, if the entity would apply them in the physical life. These may be taken as warnings, as advice, as conditions to be met, conditions to be viewed in a way and manner as lessons, as truths, as they are presented in the various ways and manners." Many say that Cayce was the most accurate prophet of them all, but I guess that is a matter of opinion as the Nostradamus supporters would certainly object to this.

A few years ago a man was asleep in his bed. He had been scheduled to take a flight that morning. He woke up after having a terrible nightmare. He had dreamt that the plane that he was supposed to fly on crashed and there were no survivors. Try as he might, he could not get this dream out of his head. It bothered him so much that he never took the flight. Lucky for him, because the plane did crash and everyone on board died.

In 1997 a woman credited a dream from God for saving her life. She dreamt that she was in a hospital and there was a woman dressed like a doctor and that she was telling her that she had a pain in her breast. She knew that she was dreaming and she really had no pain. She told her husband who reached over and felt a lump in her breast. They went searching for a doctor and when she found one, it turned out to be the lady doctor in her dream. The woman has stated, "I think God wanted me to be here to tell people that miracles don’t just happen in the Bible. They happen every day around us. We just have to pay attention."

Recently China suffered some very bad earthquakes and there was much loss of life. A man was very worried for his parents and family that lived in that area and he hadn't heard anything from them in days, until he finally got a phone call. It was from his mother. She told him that she had a dream. In the dream he was calling her and telling her to get up and leave. The dream woke her up and she went outside with the family. A couple of minutes later the earthquake struck and the house was destroyed, as were most of the other houses. The family had saved themselves because his mother had listened to her dream.
