Is There Life After Death?

One thing that many of us are looking for is proof of an afterlife. Many religions teach that we are only on earth as a sort of trial and that we will have a life after death and exactly where we go at the point of our death depends on how good we were when we were alive. This is not good enough for a lot of people that want proof of this. They feel that they need to see a spirit, or soul of a deceased person. This is nothing new by the way, people have been feeling this way for thousands of years. I am not a big believer in ghosts and such, but I do admit that there are some things that happen, that we are just not able to explain. Could there be other explanations for some of these ghostly activities that people report? Yes and one of them is that people are causing things to happen themselves without realizing it. We are finding out that our brains are a lot more powerful than first suspected. We also know that there is a subconscious component to them. Could we be making things happen and not even know it? I am not saying that this is what is happening, just that it is possible.

Supposed Ghost Appears In Photo Of Man

A woman stated that she remembers what it was like before she was born. She states that she was taken care of by women who looked like nuns in long white gowns and that she was very scared to leave them. She says she remembers one of the nuns showing her pictures of her new family members that she was going to be born to. The pictures moved until they went back to their original pose. One picture was of a little girl with her hand bandaged and she was told that the girl picked up a broken glass figurine and cut her hand. The woman claims that after she was born and many years later, she found the exact photo in her mother's metal box. It was a photo of her sister and her mother told her the exact same story about how it had happened. Usually we are told about experiences that happen in a near death situation. This is a very different type of experience, it is a pre-birth experience.

A man reported seeing something strange as he lay in bed. He swears that he was not sleeping. He saw a ball of light that grew larger and larger until it reached the bed. When it did, he could see his dead brother, but only from the waist up. He was dressed in the same clothes that he had been laid out in. The vision was almost transparent and it glowed. It was then that another strange thing happened. The man reported that as he lay in bed, he could see a transparent version of his body sit up to greet his brother. It was all very strange. The man was in so much shock that he said that all he could do was yell out his brother's name and that made his brother smile at him. The man said that his brother was completely at peace, which he had rarely ever seen before because his brother had been very sick for a good part of his life.

A man was driving a small car on a wide road. The road was three lanes each way and had traffic lights every few blocks. As he drove the car, he got an overwhelming feeling that he had to stop the car. He didn't want to, because he felt foolish stopping a car in the middle of a road, but he had no choice, the feeling compelled him to do so, so he stopped at a corner that had a green light. At exactly that moment a large SUV came flying through the red light on the road that crossed his road. If he had not stopped, he would have surely been killed. Was this a deceased relative that had taken over his body, an angel, or some other spirit? He didn't know, but he did know that they had saved him. I was that guy and this is a true story.

A man was being taken for a tour of a boy's school. One of the places that he was taken was into a locked administrative office. When he and his guide went in, he saw a man sitting at the desk smiling. He thought it odd that his guide did not say anything to the man and that the man didn't speak. When they left the office to head up to the boy's rooms, he asked, who was that man at the desk. The reply was an astonished, there was no man at the desk. I guess he felt very foolish at that point. When they got up to the rooms, they entered one room and he noticed a picture on the wall. It was a photo of the man he had seen. He said to his guide, that is the man I saw behind the desk. The guide stated that you could not have seen him, he was the founder of the school and had died over 50 years ago.

When we talk about near death experiences, we are usually talking about experiences of those who believe in God. The next experience I want to talk about is one that an atheist had. A 38 year old man was on vacation in France and suddenly had a terrible pain in his stomach. He felt he was going to die and said goodbye to his wife, while he was being rushed into a hospital for surgery. He then drifted off. The next thing he knew he was standing in the hospital room with his wife, but when he talked to her, she didn't answer. He then turned to the bed and was horrified to see himself in it. He heard people calling him into the hall. When he got into the hall, he was told to walk with the people and they began to insult him and call him names. They turned on him and began to rip him apart. He began to fight for his life. Suddenly he remembered a prayer and began to recite it as they were attacking him. They began to slowly eat him alive. The people screamed at him to stop praying, they were enraged. They yelled that there is no God and no one can hear you. At that point the man yelled, “Jesus save me.” A point of light began to appear from the darkness. It penetrated his body and his body healed and he returned to normal life.

The usual near death experience is one of leaving our own bodies and seeing a light. Sometimes we see relatives and friends that are long deceased, or hear a voice telling us to go toward the light. These types of experiences have been believed and have been mocked at. Some scientists even tell us that they are nothing more than the synapses of our brains dealing with our fading life force. I personally think that there are just too many of these experiences for them to be anything but real. I also question the fact that we would all have our brains acting the same way upon our deaths. So is there life after death? I would have to think that the experiences of millions of people can't be wrong.
