Phantom Plane Crashes
| There has been a growing phenomena as of late. People have been seeing
and hearing airplanes crash only to find no wreckage and no record of
missing planes. This is relatively new but seems to be spreading all over
the world.
Since World War II over 50 aircraft have crashed on the misty moors
of Dark Peak in South Yorkshire, England. Many people in Dark Peak have
seen a Lancaster bomber and at other times a Dakota, flying noiselessly
above the reservoirs of the Hope Valley. Some of the locals have contacted
police and have told them of plane crashes, and search and rescue operations
were conducted. One of the Peak Park Rangers says that he is called
out about three times a year to find crashed planes but no planes are
found. The Ranger thinks an illusion is causing the problem. There was
a theory that IRA terrorists were flying over the Peak or that the whole
thing was a government cover-up, but this was later dismissed by most
of the police. |

| On January 19, 1997 a light plane began its plunge into Long Island
Sound. It was witnessed by many people in Westbrook, Connecticut. The
only problem with this was the plane vanished. Rescue teams were called
out which included the Coast Guard, Fire Departments from four towns,
marine patrols and private boats, and lets not forget several helicopters.
There was a nearby witness who said he saw the plane dive into the water
but never saw a splash. The plane was never found and no planes were reported
missing.
On July 26, 1998 near Skelmersdale, Lancashire, England - people reported that a flaming airplane plunged into the earth in a ball of flames. Police rescue teams, firemen, and medics along with helicopters scoured the area. The witnesses said it crashed in a field and was trailing smoke. No plane was ever found and no trace of any crash. Another fiery plane was reported going down near Miscall, Montana on
April 6, 1956. Parachutes were seen by three women. One witness said
she saw something fall from the plane. There was four feet of snow that
day. A ground search was conducted which included a plane that flew
over the area. Nothing was found but a couple of days later a boy reported
seeing an explosion in the area. A check with officials, including the
military, showed no missing aircraft. |

| Returning from the store, an Ohio resident felt the ground shake and
his house vibrate violently. The vibrations lasted over 30 seconds. This
event occurred on November 29, 1996 between 7:30 and 8:00 p.m.. Within
a half hour the police came around and they were looking for a plane crash.
The police came to the conclusion that their witness was mistaken about
the plane crash. A BELT(Emergency Locator Transmission) was detected by
satellite but strangely, nothing was received on the ground. Even more
strangely the BELT kept shifting sending emergency crews scurrying from
one location to the next. The smell of burning rubber was detected. A
second resident at this location complained that he heard an explosion
between 7:30 and 8:00 p.m.. Nothing was ever found to indicate any aircraft
had crashed.
Dark Hollow, Pennsylvania was the site of a search for a crashed plane
on November 18, 1955. A witness, a Civil Defense Coordinator, said he
received reports from GOC members of a plane crash. Some witnesses had
seen it crash while others had heard the explosion. No planes had been
reported missing. A huge search was conducted which included Air-sea
rescue planes. Flares had been reported over a ravine in Dark Hollow.
Nothing was found but the flares continued. The flares continued up
to the 20th of November, yet again nothing and no one was found. The
search was called off on the 22nd of November, 1955. |
