I don't know why, but the Bermuda Triangle is becoming more popular than ever. I saw two different shows about it in one night. One had to do with the myths, while the other had more of an educational bend. No one is denying that ships have been lost and planes have went down with out a trace in the triangle, but the triangle is not the only area on earth where things like this happen. It seems that strange things happen in many other parts of the world. I guess it isn't so strange when you really think about it, but ships that are fully loaded that sail the Great Lakes rise 6 to 7 inches when they hit the ocean. This could be attributed to the salt in the ocean water. It is said that a human couldn't drown in the Dead Sea because there is so much salt in it that you would always be kept afloat.

There is an island named Sable Island, near Novs Scotia, Canada. It is famous for, among other things, ship wrecks. Many ships that have gone there, have never come back. Some think that mysterious forces are at work there, but others state that due to vicious currents, fog, wind and sand bars, a ship doesn't have much of a chance. So how many ships have wrecked there? Since 1583 there were over 350 reported ship wrecks but there were probably many more. Many ships have wrecked there even in the twentieth century.

The South China Sea has had it's share of shipwrecks One has to remember that China had more vessels afloat than the rest of the world combined up to about the sixteenth century. As a matter of fact in 1405 the biggest naval fleet ever assembled up to that time, visited 37 countries. Zheng He was the fleet commander. The fleet had 317 ships and was composed of over 27,800 men. So this goes to show you that ships were going down in this area for quite a long time. Zheng made seven of these fleet voyages and died on his way back form India in 1433.

Some areas of the Earth are not noted for being strange, but they are noted for strange events that happened there. You wouldn't think that California was a strange place, would you? Of course not, but look at what happened in Los Nietos Township in 1869. For over three minutes it rained flesh and blood. The rain fell over several acres. This mystery was never officially solved and you have to admit that this is not something that happens every day. I don't think that the so called Bermuda Triangle ever had such a freakish event. As late as 2001 a red rain fell in India. No one could figure out what it was so they had the rain analyzed. It was full of spores from an unknown origin.

Strange events occur not only on planet Earth but even in space. One strange thing that is happening right now is occurring on Pluto. It seems that the atmosphere of Pluto is getting thicker. What makes this even more strange is that it is moving away from the sun as this happens.

One of the things that bugs me the most when I see reports on the Bermuda Triangle, is the fact that all the details are either incomplete or twisted to make the area sound even more mysterious. This usually applies more to programs that lean toward the paranormal than the scientific. Right now the main culprit for missing ships and planes in the area of the Bermuda Triangle seems to be methane gas. When the gas leaks out of underwater pockets it can cause giant bubbles that cause ships to loose buoyancy and for water to come up in huge waves swamping the ship and sinking it. This same gas effects piston engines and causes them to stop. The discovery channel had a program on, which demonstrated that less than 1 percent methane in a piston gas engine will stop it. I have no figures for jets and I don't even know if methane effects them, but you will notice that almost every lost plane had a piston engine. The same gas causes altimeters to act like the plane is ascending even when it is descending. So as a plane flies through a cloud of methane the pilot thinks that he is ascending rapidly and may try and correct it by descending which would cause him to crash. The reason for this is that methane is thinner than the atmosphere, thus the instruments think the plane is climbing to thinner air. This answer may solve many of the mysteries of the triangle.

Is there a place that is more dangerous for planes to fly over than the Bermuda Triangle? The simple answer is yes, it is Alaska. In the 1990s alone there were 675 work related airplane crashes in Alaska. Remember this is work related and has nothing to do with crashes of other planes. It is so bad that work related airplane crashes are the leading cause of occupational fatality in Alaska. Not only that, but many times the planes will disappear without a trace. How can this be? Are ufos causing this to happen? I really don't think so. Alaska if fraught with peaks and gullies and freezing temperatures. If a plane's wing ices up and it goes down, it could easily crash into a gully and never be seen again. Perhaps, some time in the future, someone will see a plane pop out of a glacier with a ghostly crew frozen in place.

Most things, however strange they seem at the moment, usually have an explanation. As gruesome as this sounds, the rain of flesh and blood that fell could have been caused by a cow or several animals being caught up in a cyclone and just ground up and dropped back onto the earth, same with the spores. The spores might have been picked up from some unknown area of the earth and then deposited after flying around for who knows how long. On their way down they may have passed through rain clouds and even caused the rain.

It has been said that there are many areas were a triangle could be drawn that would contain many mysterious events within it's confines. One that comes to mind, off the top of my head, is the area around the Great Lakes in the U.S.
