A very strange thing happened in in Punta Gorda, Florida in 1969. Hundreds of golf balls rained down from the sky. No aircraft were sighted and it was a clear day. How could this have happened? Your guess is as good as mine. In January of 2004 hundreds of people were staring up into the sky in Spain. Why were they so captivated? The reason is that they were watching fireballs of unknown origin falling from the sky. Some were said to have even hit the ground. There was a meteor shower in 1833 over the U.S. As it was taking place, lumps of transparent jelly began to fall from the sky and hit the earth so hard that they flattened out. After a few hours the jelly turned to a white powder that crumbled and blew away. No one ever found out exactly what happened. Just a small fact I would like to mention here is that a semi-gelatinous material that degrades rapidly has been found near cattle mutilations. I am not implying that it is the same material. There have been many times when small amphibians and fish have rained down on people. In 1953 frogs fell on the inhabitants of Leicester, Massachusetts. So many fell that children were filling buckets with them. Somehow these creatures must have been caught in an updraft at some time or possibly a waterspout which is like a tornado, only over the water, and lifted to great heights then dumped. The funny thing about creatures falling from the sky, is that even the bible talks about it. This certainly is not a new phenomena. In 1786 black eggs, of all things, fell on Port-au-Prince, Haiti. It was said that tadpole like animals hatched from them and shed their skin several times. In 1857 candy was falling from the skies around Lake County, California. The candy crystals were small, not over 1/4 inch. The fall occurred over several days. The candy was so sweet that several women made syrup out of it. In Bath, Kentucky in 1876 a very strange fall occurred. Meat, in the form of flakes, fell from the sky. It is said that it only fell over an area 100 X 50 yards. The pieces were said to be about four inches square for the largest ones. The meat was believed to be beef. In Austria in 2002 a cow fell on top of a car and put the driver into the hospital. This case was solved, however, when the police figured out that the cow had fallen from a tunnel entrance down on to the car below. On January 18, 1980, in Alaska at Lake Minchumina, debris rained down over the lake. When analyzed it proved to be different types of plant material. The material was extremely small and seemed to be dust but under 100 X magnification revealed its true nature. The material was mostly Moss. A disquieting fall took place in 1968 in Brazil between Cacapava and
Sao Jose dos Campos. Flesh and blood fell from the sky for over seven
minutes. It is not clear if it was animal or human. This had happened
before in other places in the world. The fall was reported to have lasted
about 5 to 7 minutes. There are many things that may look strange to us falling from the heavens today, but many of them can be easily explained in this day and age. Things fall from airlines every day and if the plane is high enough and many fly at over 30,000 feet, some things freeze before hitting the earth. Then there is the space debris that crashes to earth in a fiery ball. Even space stations, after they finish their useful life span, are sent plummeting back to earth to burn up in our atmosphere. There are also meteorites that strike the earth's atmosphere and do not completely burn up and hit the earth. We live in a strange world indeed. |
