Current Muslim Population In the World

The secret is finally out. It was something that we should have noticed, but we didn't. Europe, Canada and even the U.S. are rapidly changing. Europe and Canada are becoming Muslim states. How did this happen? It is very simple to answer. The better off a country has become, the less children they seem to produce. You need more than two children per family just to keep the population growing Let us look at Europe. The countries in Europe have far less than the required 2.1 children. If we look at Germany what do we see? We see a country that is only producing 1.3 children for every two adults. We in the U.S. are bucking this trend with 2.12 children for two adults. Immigration is moving millions of Muslims into Europe and even the U.S. The average Muslim family is said to have 8.1 children. Because of this it is said that Canada will be a Muslim country in about 30 years, because their fertility rate has fallen to only 1.57 children per couple, while Muslim immigration has increased and Muslims have become the second greatest earners of advanced degrees in that country.

It is also said that Europe could be Muslim in 40-45 years. The amount of Muslims has now surpassed the amount of Catholics in the world. Indeed things are changing and the world is going to look a lot different in about 50 years. What will happen then? The Muslims will become more prosperous and will probably produce less children per family. It seems that poorer people have always produced far more children than ones that were better off, regardless of religion. Some might think that if the world became Muslim than all the fighting would stop. Nothing could be further from the truth. We have seen how different countries, that are both Muslim, wage war on each other. An example of this is the former Iraq and Iran. The CIA breaks down the current world religions this way:
"Christians 33.32% (of which Roman Catholics 16.99%, Protestants 5.78%, Orthodox 3.53%, Anglicans 1.25%), Muslims 21.01%, Hindus 13.26%, Buddhists 5.84%, Sikhs 0.35%, Jews 0.23%, Baha'is 0.12%, other religions 11.78%, non-religious 11.77%, atheists 2.32% (2007 est.)". Notice that there were far more Muslims than Catholics in the world, but no more than Christians.

Here is what I think is happening in the U.S. We are just about one of the only western countries that is holding our own. When we add immigration to the birthrate for non Muslim people, we can see that the U.S. would take a lot longer before it would ever become a Muslim country, if it ever did. The U.S. will become more Muslim, but it will also become more Hispanic The Muslims that move here will achieve a better life and their birthrate will fall and eventually reach the same as all the other races in this country. Thus the country will become more homogenized The same will not be true for Europe however, unless the Muslim birthrate falls drastically in those countries.

In 2008 Spain had a population of about 40.5 million people. It is estimated that there are 2 million Muslims in Spain, many are there illegally and make up the poorest part of the population and have an incredible birthrate. The non Muslim population has a fertility rate of only 1.37 children per couple, while as I said the average Muslim birthrate is 8.1. If nothing were to change, the non Muslim population of Spain will produce about 26 million people while the 2 million Muslims will produce 8 million children. As this continues, even if no more Muslims entered the country, you can see how the Muslim population would soon outnumber the non Muslim population. France is now about 10% Muslim and the Netherlands about 6%.

Sweden has a population of about 9 million people. Their death rate is greater than their birthrate. It is estimated that there are about 350,000 Muslims in Sweden. If we apply the formula that we used above to this small county, we see the same pattern as Spain. Even without a Muslim influx, Sweden is a dying country as is most of the western world. It has a shrinking population. Denmark has a history of assimilating immigrants by the second generation, but not so in this case. For the first time it has a highly recognizable minority. The Muslim population have failed to blend in and are having problems getting suitable jobs and social acceptance which keeps their birthrate high. The Danish birthrate is only 1.85 children per couple, not enough to sustain a population.

The current Muslim population of the U.S. is very hard to figure out. I have seen estimates that range from 900,000 to 8,000,000. It is probably somewhere between 1 and 2 million. Muslim sites like to over report the amount of Muslims in the US, while government sites tend to under report them.

So what does this all mean, will the world be Muslim in a few decades? Probably not, but Islam will certainly be spreading out. Even China is estimated to have about a 2% Muslim population and India's Muslims account for about 20% of that countries population. For some reasons there are not many Muslims in Mexico. South America seems to be in a different status since most of the countries there have higher birth rates that are able to support their population growth. Russia is experiencing growth pains from dramatic increases in the Muslim population.

There will be a new world out there in about 50 years, one that people today will not recognize and this is bound to have an effect on life on this planet. In what way? It is too early to tell. The other side of the coin is that the Muslim birthrate is falling faster than the birthrate for any other segment of society and this could change the entire picture. It has been estimated that Muslims in western countries are falling into the same fertility pattern as the citizens of those countries. Maybe there won't be a Muslim majority after all?
