A little girl in England decided one day that it would be fun to release a helium balloon with a note on it with her telephone number and asking the finder of the balloon to call her when they found it. Apparently this is a semi-popular thing in Europe. About ten days passed and she got a call. A little girl the same age as her found the balloon. She lived about 140 miles away. When the little girl that found the balloon gave her name, it was very surprising. She had the same name, first and last, as the girl that released the balloon. Not only that, but she had the same type of dog and a rabbit and a guinea pig. Her dog was 3 years old and this was the same age as the dog that belonged to the girl that released the balloon.

A guy was out in the woods, he was hunting. As he went along through the brush there was nothing unusual to see, at least for awhile. This changed however when he reached the site of an oak tree. As he looked at the tree, he couldn't believe his eyes. Wedged in the tree, about 35 feet off of the ground was a huge bolder. It somehow was being held up there by three or four very sturdy branches. How did it get up there? It couldn't have been lifted as the tree grew, because the tree would have been to weak to lift such a rock when the tree was small. It also seemed that if the rock had been dropped into the tree somehow, the weight of the huge rock would have broken the branches and it would have fell. This was very strange indeed.

There is a tunnel in Russia that seems to attract accidents. You can see how some of the driving is crazy, but there are also other times when accidents seem to come out of nowhere. This has to be seen to be believed, so here is the link to a video of the tunnel on YouTube. Click Here

It turns out that the US is one of the safest countries to drive in and the ratio of accidents to deaths has been steadily going down. Even with this, we still have about 1.5 million auto and truck accidents per year. The worst place to drive is in a third world country. It seems that places where there are drivers that are driving for the first time and there is no history of driving by family members before that, are the worst for several reasons. The first reason is that these drivers just are not experienced enough and had never observed anyone else driving and second, the traffic control systems are not there. Add to this some very dangerously built roads and you have a recipe for disaster.

Four guys decided that it would be fun to explore the Amazon jungle. On the face of it, it might have sounded like a fun idea, but it certainly didn't take into account all of the hazards in the jungle. After a short time it was realized that the tiny expedition was not equipped well enough for a trip of this nature and they decided to return home. There were four people. Two decided to take the overland route and two decided to make a raft of logs and sail down the Amazon River to civilization. The two that went overland were never seen again. The two on the raft were in for a shock. The raft hit a rock and broke into two pieces and the two guys got separated. One of them was helped by natives who came across him in the jungle. He and they then launched a search for his lost companion. They combed the jungle and the river with no results. Finally after nineteen days they discovered the lost man and he was well. Somehow he had managed to survive in the Amazon jungle for nineteen days without food and water on his person, eating and drinking whatever he could find. So much for a fun trip.

Niagara Falls

There he was, a very depressed man. He had decided that life was not worth living. I don't know if you have ever seen the preparations that go into an attempt to go over Niagara Falls. There is usually some sort of steel barrel with a completely padded inside and even then it is a death defying stunt. This guy went to the falls, looked down and decided that if he jumped off of the falls there was no way he could survive, so he jumped. Down and down he went into the turbulent, rock faced falls. It must have felt like he was falling forever and if he hit a rock face all would be over. The drop is about 180 feet and the water was just above freezing. Somehow, against all odds, the guy made it to the bottom and was swimming around. Rescue workers saw this unbelievable sight and jumped in to save this guy from dying from hypothermia. He resisted at first, but either got too weak or changed his mind and they pulled him out. The rescuers said that this was the toughest guy they ever saw. He was actually swimming between sheets of ice.

Some people just can't take arguments well. One man was having an argument with his girlfriend. He must have turned his back on her, because she decided to pump nine bullets into it. What a nice girl. You would have thought that this guy would have known that this was not the girl for him before that, but he obviously didn't. Here is the amazing part of the story. She must have been the world's worst shot, because she didn't seem to hit any body part that would have killed him. The man survived the onslaught of lead.

Coincidence is a very strange thing. It seems to occur in every life and is trivial most of the time. Sometimes it can be downright scary. The year was 2002. The story involves twin brothers who lived in Finland. Both brothers were 75 years old. The first one died when he was hit by a truck while riding his bike. His brother had just been killed very near the same spot. Even the police inspector that investigated the accident said that this was so strange that it made his hair stand on end.
