One of the stories that doesn't seem to get much press is about the amount of illegal aliens that are responsible for terrible crimes in this country. It is bad enough when they are committing petty crimes, but some are going directly into violent gangs when they get here and are responsible for rapes, murders, drive by shootings and such. The extent of this plague is not realized by the general public and one of the reasons why, is the fact that it hardly ever makes the news. The people who make policy would rather have you imagine that all these illegal aliens are just poor peasants that work in the fields and send their money back to Mexico to support their families. The truth is that there are a lot of illegal aliens here from all over the world and the criminal element is growing and something has to be done before it is too late.

Sarah Palin and her husband were said to have attended meetings with an organization that advocated Alaska breaking away from the United States. The party is known as the Alaskan Independence Party. What does this mean? It means that Palin ran for vice president and yet she had supported a party that advocated breaking away from the U.S. Why wasn't this brought out by the democrats? The truth is that they didn't want to be perceived as picking on her because she was a woman and they must have felt that it was better to not even mention this. What did this say about McCain's choice for vice president? It showed that he either never bothered to check out Palin, or he just didn't care that she had supported a breakaway party. This is kind of surprising for someone that is said to be a hero. If you go to Wikipedia you will see the definition of the Alaskan Independence Party which reads, “The Alaskan Independence Party is a political party in the U.S. state of Alaska that advocates an in-state referendum which includes the option of Alaska becoming an independent nation.”

A huge lapse in the protection of the US nuclear forces took place this year and yet it received only slight notice in the press. Somehow a fire in a missile silo burned for days and went undetected. Could this have caused a nuclear explosion? I don't think so, but the thought of something like this happening and going undetected is unthinkable. What kind of system is this country running? It certainly is true that lately the handling of nukes has become more lax. This was made obvious when it was found that planes were taking off carrying nukes and the the commanders didn't even know it. One plane flew with six nuclear missiles between North Dakota and Louisiana. A government spokesperson stated "It's rare that they have an accident, and the accidents have never really, that I know of, amounted to much because of the safety devices that are built into the system," Yeah tell this to the people where huge cleanups were required because we dropped nukes by mistake. Oh they didn't go off, they just contaminated huge areas of land. Only now people are finding out that a plane that had nukes on board and burned in England on an American base, contaminated that area.

Some people have been saying that the number one underreported story this year is that we are totally unprepared to detect a terrorist attack on our soil, even though we have been told repeatedly that things are much safer. In 1998 a story was released by WordNetDaily that al-Qaida had purchased 20 suitcase sized nukes from former KGB agents in 1998 for $30 million. In all fairness, it does make one wonder if they had them why they didn't use at least one during the 9/11 attacks. Maybe they thought they were going to cause so much damage anyway that they would save the nukes. Anyway, another article went on to say that al-Quida also purchased chemical weapons from North Korea. The US border area sees thousands of people illegally crossing into the US every year and the truth is that it is not that hard to do and if anyone tells you it is, just refer them to the fact that millions of illegals are in the country and a good portion come from Mexico. Unfortunately for us, things can be smuggled into this country. Even the contents of container ships are not searched thoroughly with only a maximum of about 5% of what comes in being searched.

The world is experiencing a crisis. I am not talking about global warming, although this plays a part in it. I am not talking about wars, although they seem to be raging in several parts of the world and I am not talking food shortages, although they are very serious. I am talking about the water crisis. You don't see much about this in the news, but it is a very serious problem. It is such a serious problem that we could see water wars in the future unless something is done. The problem stems from bad water management and global warming. It is extremely severe in parts of Africa. When you consider the fact that about 2/3rds of water use is for growing crops, one can see that while the water shortage is becoming severe, it will also lead to a food crisis. An example of this happening is what is going on in Australia. They are into using their water reserves and their wheat exports are down about 60% and rice exports are down about 90%. In China the Yellow River is usually below sea level now. India is heading the same way. Not enough water in these areas also means not enough food and we all know that China and India make up a huge percentage of the world's population. In Kenya Lake Nakuru is in danger of drying up. Something has to be done. Don't think that for one second the US is not affected. Lake Mead and Lake Powell are in danger of going dry by 2021.

Industry is disappearing from this country in record numbers. It has been reported but certainly not enough. The Drug industry is disappearing as it moves overseas. Disappearing along with the industry are the jobs. Things that disappear sometimes have an unexpected effect on us. We know that when companies disappear, the jobs they generated are lost, but look at what is happening now that more and more bees are disappearing. We often read about the honey bees disappearing, but most of us don't realize what this really means. Here is an example, the ice cream industry is now threatened because of this. Last year 1/3rd of all hives disappeared in this country. It is expected that it will even be worse this year. Haagen-Dazs had donated $250,000 to research on why bees are disappearing and they also gave an undisclosed amount in a grant to create the Honeybee Health Improvement Project because if things continue this way, they will not be able to manufacture ice cream since the bees are responsible for cross pollinating many of the crops needed to produce this product. Without bees, agriculture in this country is in trouble. Einstein is credited as saying that if the honeybees disappeared so would mankind.
