Black Holes, Rogue Objects And Gamma Rays

So what is going on in the universe? For years we have been told that if anything gets too near a black hole, it gets sucked down into it after being reduced to rubble. This doesn't seem to be the case for a black hole that astronomers say is in the constellation of Draco. We are talking about something that is about 4 billion light years away. Initially the black hole must have been inactive, because no one knew it was there until it decided to swallow a sun sized star which caused a burst of gamma rays that has been shooting out since March (2011). If a black hole works the way that science says it is supposed to, why didn't this black hole feed on other objects? It was almost as if it was brought alive by the star. Another thing that is strange is that when a black hole eats a star, the gamma ray burst usually only lasts for a matter of seconds at the most. Why is this event so different from others that have been observed?

It just might turn out that there are no black holes and something entirely different is happening, or that there are black holes, but this isn't one of them doing this. There there is the chance that this is a black hole, but there are different types with different attributes that we have not learned about yet. It is very strange to see something so unexpected happening. We might not have even noticed this if it weren't for the Swift spacecraft which was engineered to find gamma ray bursts in the universe. This last couple of years have brought us some unusual events in space. Some say this is because our instruments have become more sensitive and sophisticated and as they improve we will discover even more strange things. Others are saying that we have more probes and satellites in space than ever before and that is why we are seeing more. They are probably both correct.

Many people have wondered what would happen if a tiny black hole was created? Some suppose that it would evaporate, but others think that it might start to eat whatever is around it and start to grow until it consumed whatever it could, which in turn would increase its gravity and allow it to gain a longer reach. A lot of people are scared that the new huge Large Hadron Collider will create tiny black holes that could destroy the Earth, but the scientists say that it won't, but if it did create them, they would only last a millisecond Would you like to see what a black hole looks like to a mathematician? Here it is,  M^2 > (J/M)^2 + Q^2, where M is the mass of the black hole, J is its angular momentum and Q is its charge. Don't worry I don't understand it either. There are now some scientists that believe that they can destroy a black hole and that ALL they have to do is get rid of the event horizon. That is where all the material swirls around the black hole before entering. Other scientists state that no one knows what would happen to a black hole if its event horizon was removed.

Another strange thing that we have noticed is that some planets orbit the wrong way. I can't help but wonder what criteria is used to determine what is the right way to orbit and what is the wrong way? Could it be the fact that we have seen many more planets that orbit one way than another? This is hardly scientific proof, but either is saying there is a right or wrong way to orbit. The truth is that this is determined by the fact that the planets orbit their star in the opposite way from the way that the star is rotating. What could possibly cause this? It could be that these types of planets were formed somewhere else and flew into their orbits with such force that they continued to orbit in the direction that they came into the orbit in. Another hypothetical reason might be that some massive activity on the planets themselves cause them to orbit in the opposite way from their sun. Perhaps a large gas explosion or huge volcanic explosions acted like rockets? One of these planets is really disturbing scientists, because it happens to be so close to its star. New computer models show that a hot Jupiter sized object can flip and go in the opposite direction in orbit. Ultimately scientists might find out that many planets have orbited the wrong way but eventually they slow down until they begin to orbit in the direction of their spinning star.

To me, one of the most interesting finds has been the fact that rogue planets and stars exist. These are the ones that I have mentioned in the past that speed through space and are not part of any solar system. One never knows when one of these objects might come into a given area. Now that we have found out that there are rogue planets and stars, we just might eventually find out that there are rogue solar systems out there that are not part of any galaxy. There might even be small clusters of planets and stars that sail through space that were once part of galaxies. Why not, our galaxy is speeding through space and our solar system is on a path that would take it out of the galaxy eventually. Maybe all of that missing matter is not in gas from nebulas and such, maybe some of it is the rogue objects that are out there.

Lastly we are finding out that there are objects far past Pluto that are planet sized. It is said that at least one could be bigger than Jupiter and is so cold that it is difficult to see. So how far away is this object. The best scientific guess is that it could be as far away as 30,000 times the distance from the Earth to the Sun, which is called an astronomical unit. Here is another thought that some scientists have. They think that our sun has a companion star that is about 1 light year distant and it is a brown dwarf or red dwarf that orbits through the Oort Cloud and causes havoc by causing some of those objects to tear loose and fly through our solar system. Could this be what the Mayas knew about?
